Corrosion Repairs
Concrete that has been corroded is treated differently than most topping or surface repairs. The first concern is that the concrete be neutralized from whatever caused the deterioration. The second concern is that the repair material will withstand the ongoing chemical attack better than the original concrete. If left unattended, these areas can become worse rapidly and can lead to other issues such as soil contamination and groundwater pollution, both of which carry fines much greater than the cost of repairs. Once the preparation team has removed all loose and corroded concrete, neutralized the corrosion, and created a suitable profile, then a repair mortar will be selected. The entire area may need to be coated with a chemical resistant coating to avoid this problem again in the future.
